What Content Should You Post When Transitioning from Corporate to Entrepreneurship?

Making the leap from corporate life to entrepreneurship is an exciting yet challenging transition. One of the biggest concerns many professionals face is how to create content that aligns with their future goals without causing friction in their current job.

This was a hot topic during my recent Personal Brand Lab bootcamp, where someone asked:

“What content should I post if I’m transitioning from corporate to entrepreneurship?”

Given how uncertain job security is these days, it’s no surprise that more people are thinking about a Plan B.

But the challenge is real:

❌ I don’t want to post things that seem irrelevant to my current job.

❌ I don’t want to be flagged by my company for looking elsewhere.

❌ I don’t want my employer to think I’m disengaged.

So, how can you start building your brand as an entrepreneur without jeopardizing your current role?

3 Smart Ways to Create Content During Your Transition

✅ Identify Your Transferrable Skills

Every job gives you skills that are valuable in entrepreneurship—whether it’s leadership, communication, problem-solving, or industry knowledge.

Instead of talking directly about “leaving corporate,” focus on how your skills apply to different situations.

✅ Incorporate Those Skills Into Your Current Content

Start positioning yourself as a thought leader in your industry.

Share insights, lessons, and best practices that can benefit both corporate professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs.

This way, your content remains valuable to your existing audience while subtly building your entrepreneurial brand.

✅ Balance a Primary and Secondary Focus

Your corporate job can be your primary focus while you gradually introduce entrepreneurial content.

For example, if you’re in marketing, start posting about personal branding or digital strategies that are relevant to both corporate and entrepreneurial audiences.

Over time, shift your content more toward your business as you gain traction.

Your Content is a Bridge to Your Future

Your entrepreneurial path may look very different from your corporate career, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create a smooth transition.

💡 Find the links between where you are now and where you want to go. Use those connections to create content that adds value and moves you closer to your goals.
